Knitting wishes............

I really miss knitting!  Of course, I did knit a bit this year, but mostly dishcloths.  But, the REAL knitting is what I want to do now!  My thumb still bothers me though, so will let it rest for a while.  Machine piecing and top stitching can be done without pain, so that's what I'll stick with for now.  Although I've had to abandon hand-quilting and do miss it, at least I can quilt.

Wishing you all the best for the coming new year (2011).

Finally, the blanket is finished!

This is one heavy blanket, so it should keep son and wife warm!  Now, I need to gift-wrap it.

I still have more knitted blocks so maybe one more?

A few years ago, after making these squares for our church knitting group, I also made lots of blocks at home for my own use.  That first one was mine, the I made my daughter one, and now son and family will have one.

Here we are in December...........

.........And, the blanket hasn't been touched since January.  My hands are better than they were back then, but I still can't do much knitting or crocheting, or even much hand-stitching quilts.

Currently, I'm finishing up a quilt I began for my son a couple years ago.  It is in memory of his beloved K-9 partner Jag.  Just a couple more days of hand-sewing the binding on and another row of decorative stitching and it will be done.  Then.......I will finish sewing together the rows of the knitted squares and add a couple rows of crochet around the completed blanket.  I hate having to leave things unfinished and this will be a relief to say the least.

Happy knitting & crocheting!

No knitting!

All my knitting & crochet projects are in limbo for now.  I really miss it too.  But, I'm still being very careful with my hands and wrists in order to quilt a few projects.

Still resting my hand/thumb!

OK, I am again resting my thumb.  For two weeks, I did not work on the heavy blanket which I SO wanted to complete once and for all (it is a gift for son and his wife).  Then my hands felt like they should be knitting, so I started a new cardigan sweater for myself two days ago.  This AM, I awoke with both thumbs clicking and almost locking!  It wasn't worth it!  Now, I have even more UFO's.  Reading is about all that I can do for enjoyment now.  Even small household tasks make my hands hurt!

Hopefully, lots of hand rest, ibuprofen and/or Tylenol will help.

Blanket at a standstill

I over-used my left thumb while diligently working on the blanket so had to put it aside.  Will see how the thumb feels tomorrow.  So, I spent quite a while reading "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks, one of my favorite authors.  Then, I got sleepy and had a short nap.  What a lazy day!

Take care!

Remember this blanket?

I made this large blanket about 8 years ago and have been knitting blocks off and on for the past year (again).  My son and dau-in-law were to get one for Christmas from me (2009) but as I wasn't happy with some of the colors I used, I took apart a few rows, remade some new blocks and am now reassembling.  The crochet edging will be navy blue and the blocks from many shades of blue, green, a few cranberry, etc.  Hopefully, it will be finished soon so I can move onto another project.
